Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data my games and apps collect, why they collect it, and what you can do about it. I keep it short and plain, no dark patterns, no selling your data.
Last updated: August 23, 2026
1. Who this covers
I'm Maceo Vivier, an independent game developer. This policy applies to the games, prototypes, and applications I publish myself, on mobile app stores, on the web, or as downloadable builds, and to this website, maceo-vivier.com.
It does not cover games I worked on as an employee or contractor for another studio or publisher (for example titles published by Lucky Duck Games or Goliath Games). Those are governed by the publisher's own privacy policy, linked from their store listing.
Not every game uses every service described below. A game only collects what it actually needs, and its store listing details the specific data it handles.
2. What I collect
Information you provide
- Account details, such as a username, display name, or email address when a game offers accounts or sign-in.
- Support and feedback, meaning the content of any message you send me and the address you send it from.
Information collected automatically
- Gameplay and progression data, such as save data, run history, in-game currency, achievements, and leaderboard or league scores.
- Device and technical data, such as device model, operating system version, language, region, app version, and a device or installation identifier.
- Usage and diagnostics, such as session length, in-game events, performance metrics, and crash reports (including the technical state of the app at the moment it crashed).
- Advertising identifiers, where a game shows ads. See advertising choices.
Purchases
In-app purchases are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. I never see or store your card number, billing address, or other payment details. I receive only a confirmation that a purchase completed, so the game can unlock what you bought.
What I never collect
I don't collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data, and I don't build advertising profiles about you myself.
3. How I use it
- To run the game: save your progress, sync it across devices, and power multiplayer, leaderboards, and social features.
- To deliver purchases and restore them when you reinstall.
- To fix bugs and crashes, and to measure performance on real devices.
- To understand which features get used, so I can balance and improve the game.
- To show ads in games that are free to play, and to measure whether they work.
- To answer you when you contact me.
- To prevent cheating, abuse, and fraud.
I do not sell your personal data, and I don't share it with data brokers.
4. Legal bases (EU/UK users)
Where the GDPR applies, I rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract, to provide the game itself: accounts, saves, multiplayer, and purchases.
- Legitimate interests, to keep the game stable and secure and to understand aggregate usage.
- Consent, for personalised advertising and any non-essential analytics, where consent is required. You can withdraw it at any time in your device settings or the game's privacy prompt.
- Legal obligation, to keep transaction and tax records where the law requires it.
5. Third-party services
My games rely on a small set of standard providers. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase (analytics, crash reporting, authentication, cloud saves) — privacy policy
- Unity (engine services, analytics, and ads) — privacy policy
- Google AdMob (advertising) — how Google uses ad data
- Google Play (distribution and billing) — privacy policy
- Apple (distribution and billing) — privacy policy
6. Advertising and your choices
Free-to-play games may show ads. Ad providers can use an advertising identifier to limit repetition and to measure results, and, with your consent, to personalise what you see. You are in control:
- iOS: Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Declining App Tracking Transparency means ads stay non-personalised.
- Android: Settings › Google › Ads, where you can delete or reset your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalisation.
- EU/UK/Switzerland: games serving ads show a consent prompt on first launch. You can change your answer later from the game's settings or privacy option.
7. When data is shared
I share data only in these situations:
- With the service providers listed above, so they can perform their function.
- Publicly, but only what you choose to make public, such as a display name on a leaderboard.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of players or myself.
- If a game is ever transferred to another developer or publisher, in which case you'll be told before your data moves.
8. How long I keep it
- Account and save data: for as long as your account is active, and deleted on request.
- Crash and diagnostic data: typically up to 90 days.
- Analytics data: kept in aggregated or pseudonymised form, generally up to 14 months.
- Purchase records: as long as accounting and tax law requires.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on managed infrastructure with access limited to me. No system is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, and I'll notify affected players and the relevant authority if a breach ever puts your data at risk.
10. Children
My games are not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that bar), and I don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided me with personal data, email me and I'll delete it. Games rated for a general audience serve only non-personalised ads.
11. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask me to:
- Access the data I hold about you, or receive a copy of it.
- Correct anything that's inaccurate.
- Delete your account and its data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent.
- Port your data to another service in a machine-readable format.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data. I don't do either, so there's nothing to opt out of, but the right stands.
Email maceo07102@gmail.com from the address linked to your account, or include your in-game name. I'll respond within 30 days, free of charge, and I won't treat you differently for asking. If you're in the EEA or UK and you're unhappy with my response, you can complain to your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
12. International transfers
I'm based in France. The providers listed above may process data on servers outside the EEA, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
13. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I'll update the date at the top of the page. For changes that materially affect how your data is used, I'll give notice in the affected game before the change takes effect.
14. Contact
Questions, requests, or anything unclear? Email maceo07102@gmail.com and I'll get back to you.
